American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is an international development organization motivated by Judaism’s imperative to pursue justice. AJWS is dedicated to alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world.

Through grants to grassroots organizations, volunteer service, advocacy and education, AJWS teaches and advances tikkun olam (repairing the world through social justice). AJWS fosters civil society, sustainable development, and human rights, focusing especially on alleviating poverty, hunger, and disease for people of all religions and backgrounds in the developing world. Simultaneously, AJWS promotes the values and responsibilities of global citizenship, and creates a sense of fellowship and partnership between Jews and non-Jews. In short, American Jewish World Service promotes human dignity, hope, and healing.
