Day 4 - This Awesome World

Updated: Sep 20, 2021

To honor Shabbat, the exercise for day 4 is being released early.

Rosh Hashanah is not the only time in the Jewish calendar, or even the most important time, that celebrates Creation. Every Sabbath is “a memorial to the making of the world.” Many people have the custom of taking a “shaptzir” – a walk for pleasure – and spending time outdoors, to enjoy nature on Shabbat.

This Saturday, take yourself for an “Awe Walk.” Go outside and walk, if you can, with the intention of noticing what might inspire awe. Attend to animals, plants, trees, buildings, the sky, the ground, people, your own moving limbs. Look at the world anew, through the eyes of awe.
